Tyler Shaver

Tyler Shaver is an ice hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U Prep team. Tyler started playing hockey when he was seven and has been skating ever since. Raised by a Marine, he has always possessed an unmatched work ethic, a ‘no-excuses’ mindset, and a gritty determination to excel at hockey and in life. His positive attitude allows him to stay focused on what matters most and fuels the drive to continue his positive trajectory.
You’ll find Tyler at center or wing, and he is known for his speed. He is also a bandit on the forecheck with calculated aggression that forces the opposing defensemen into uncomfortable situations. His size and physical play allow him to fight through bodies and drive through them. He is a “hype-man” to his teammates and can often be heard howling in celebration over ‘sick’ plays and encouraging others around him.
Positivity and Perseverance
Tyler comes off as energetic and endlessly upbeat to those closest to him, and he knows that a positive attitude can help him achieve his goals. Tyler works hard even in the face of adversity, whether it was not making the team he wanted to as a young player or handling setbacks due to injury.
